Back to the Movie List

Movies I’ve seen since summer 2006.

Evan Almighty: This was a lot better than I thought it would be. It was actually kind of cute, and I found myself enjoying it. It probably won’t win best picture, but the special effects were great and it was a lot of fun to watch.

Knocked Up: An excellent movie to go along with the Wedding Crashers and 40-Year-Old Virgin genre.  I can’t remember the last time a movie came out and this many people became obsessed with it. Very funny.

Music and Lyrics: This made me want to be a songwriter!!

Dreamgirls (12/26/06): I didn’t expect this to be a musical, so I was pleasantly surprised when the characters began to sing their feelings to each other even off the stage. This gave an interesting representation of the Supremes and the beginning of Motown.

The Pursuit of Happyness (12/25/06): A nice rags-to-riches movie with believable characters. And Will Smith’s son was just adorable.

Tenacious D in: The Pick of Destiny: I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. The songs were a lot of fun, especially since I love classic rock so much. I usually don’t like Jack Black, but here, I didn’t mind him so much.

Borat: This was disgusting. Totally not worth all the hype. I really didn’t enjoy it at all. It’s not that I was necessarily offended as a Jew, but as a movie fan. Borat fans–why all the hype?

Evan Almight was moralistic boring crap…at least to me. And have you ever seen Pleasantville?
